Christopher Howell is an independent corporate writer specializing in feature writing, copywriting, and other forms of business communication. He has been writing professionally since 1986 as a radio news writer/reporter, marketing copywriter, web content editor, technical writer, and grant writer.
Howell started his career as a news writer at WOSU-AM in Columbus, Ohio covering such diverse stories as art exhibits, labor actions, and auto racing. After moving to Orlando, Florida in 1989, Howell served as news and promotions writer for business-formatted station WBZS-AM. He wrote and produced radio ads for local restaurants, retail stores and other service industries.
For four years, Howell was responsible for writing, editing, and layout of a company newsletter, Graphics Graffiti, for Total Graphic Services, Inc.
As promotions producer for public station WMFE-FM, Howell produced hundreds of spots for the station and local businesses. His promotions writing helped the station cement its image as a trusted community resource. His fundraising writing helped raise over a half million dollars in on-air membership.
As a freelance writer, Howell has written newsletter articles, brochures, sales sheets, web content, and has consulted on marketing projects and survey research. He is currently Resource Development Specialist for the nonprofit Center for Independent Living in Central Florida, Inc.
He is the recipient of the Associated Press Best Breaking News award and the Denton Award for best documentary. He recently won the “Up and Coming” award from the Grant Professionals Network. He is currently writing a book on nonprofit marketing techniques. Howell received his B. A. in Journalism from the Ohio State University.
A native of Ohio, he has resided in Central Florida for nineteen years. When not writing he enjoys reading and motorcycle touring.
